Quality, Safety & Environment

ISO standards and management systems that underpin every project.

Holman Engineering operates an Integrated Management System covering quality, occupational health and safety, and environmental management — applied through design, installation and long-term support of engineering systems.

Integrated Management System

One system covering quality, safety and environment.

Holman's Integrated Management System (IMS) combines three independently recognised management disciplines into a single coordinated framework.

Rather than operating quality, safety and environmental systems separately, Holman's IMS aligns these controls into a consistent way of planning, delivering and reviewing engineering work. This supports better project outcomes, clearer accountability and simpler compliance reporting for clients who require it.

The IMS applies from initial project planning through design, purchasing, manufacturing, site installation, commissioning and ongoing support — covering both Holman's workshop operations and field engineering activities.

Our ISO Standards

Three standards, one integrated system.

Each standard addresses a different aspect of how Holman plans and delivers engineering projects.

ISO 9001

Quality Management

Holman's quality management system supports consistent project delivery through documented processes, clear responsibilities, controlled purchasing, inspection, testing and commissioning records — and a structured approach to corrective action and continuous improvement.

  • Documented project control procedures
  • Controlled design, purchasing and manufacturing records
  • Systematic inspection and test before delivery
  • Commissioning documentation and site acceptance
  • Corrective action and ongoing improvement processes
ISO 45001

Occupational Health & Safety

Holman's OH&S system promotes and maintains a safe working environment for employees, subcontractors, clients and members of the public who may be affected by our work — across workshop, office and field installation environments.

  • Hazard identification and risk assessment before site work
  • Safe work procedures for installation and field activities
  • Staff training and competency requirements
  • Incident reporting and corrective action processes
  • Safety documentation for principal contractors on request

Environmental Management

Holman's Environmental Management System identifies the environmental aspects of our work, manages relevant risks, controls waste, considers resource use and supports continual improvement in environmental performance across project delivery and business operations.

  • Environmental aspect identification for each project
  • Waste minimisation and appropriate disposal controls
  • Resource use consideration in design and purchasing
  • Compliance with applicable environmental legislation
  • Continual improvement targets and performance review
Applied Throughout Projects

How the IMS applies across the project lifecycle.

The IMS is not a documentation exercise — it is applied at each stage of Holman's project delivery from initial enquiry through long-term support.

Planning Project and safety planning

Quality, safety and environmental controls are considered at the start of each project, including hazard identification, supplier selection and documentation requirements.

Design Controlled design process

Design activities follow documented procedures with review and approval steps to support consistent, traceable outcomes.

Purchasing Supplier and component control

Purchasing controls support the selection of reliable suppliers and appropriate components for engineered products.

Manufacturing Workshop quality controls

Assembly, wiring and manufacturing activities follow documented procedures with inspection at key stages.

Installation Safe field work practices

Site installation follows safe work procedures with hazard controls, appropriate PPE and compliance with site induction requirements.

Support Ongoing maintenance and improvement

Post-commissioning support activities are carried out under the same management system, with fault resolution tracked and improvements recorded.

Why It Matters

Management systems that support client confidence.

For clients operating in regulated environments — universities, government, transport infrastructure, commercial facilities — a supplier's management system matters as much as the engineering itself.

  • Consistent, documented project delivery reduces risk for the client organisation
  • Traceable quality records support client audits and internal reporting
  • Safe work practices protect both Holman staff and client site personnel
  • Environmental controls support client sustainability obligations
  • IMS documentation available to principal contractors and procurement teams on request
