Project Snapshot

Brief system overview

Holman Engineering designed and installed a parking guidance system at James Cook University’s Townsville campus. The system monitors vehicle movements at car park entries and exits, calculates available spaces and displays availability across the campus.

Challenge

The Townsville campus has multiple distributed car parking areas. Students and staff needed better guidance to available parking and campus managers needed reliable live data.

Holman approach

The system monitors vehicle movements and feeds calculated availability to colour signage installed on campus. Holman also interfaced the system with a student-run vehicle counting project to support educational objectives.

Outcome

The site receives live parking guidance across a large campus while also supporting a student learning project through system integration.

Why it matters

Real-time parking information improves site movement.

Holman parking guidance systems combine counting, sensors, signage and reporting so drivers can find spaces faster and site operators can better understand car park performance.

Driver guidanceLive availability

Displays show the number of spaces available in the relevant car park, level, zone or section.

OperationsCentralised reporting

TrafficNet and associated interfaces support live data, history and management reporting.

IntegrationBuilt for site needs

Systems can connect with signage, web interfaces, apps and third-party services depending on the project.
