Project Snapshot

Brief system overview

Macquarie University is spread across a 126-hectare campus with a large number of car parks. Holman Engineering designed and installed a parking guidance system to monitor vehicle movements, calculate available spaces and display availability on signs located around the campus.

Challenge

A large campus with many car parks needs parking information that is easy for students, staff and visitors to understand before congestion builds around high-demand areas.

Holman approach

The system collects parking movement data through Holman’s TrafficNet server and stores it in a central database. A web-based user interface provides access to live data and reporting, with capability to integrate third-party parking payment apps.

Outcome

The university gains a clearer view of parking capacity across campus, while drivers receive real-time guidance to available parking areas.

Why it matters

Real-time parking information improves site movement.

Holman parking guidance systems combine counting, sensors, signage and reporting so drivers can find spaces faster and site operators can better understand car park performance.

Driver guidanceLive availability

Displays show the number of spaces available in the relevant car park, level, zone or section.

OperationsCentralised reporting

TrafficNet and associated interfaces support live data, history and management reporting.

IntegrationBuilt for site needs

Systems can connect with signage, web interfaces, apps and third-party services depending on the project.
